  • Do I need the keys?
  • No! - Our agents drivers are well trained and equipped to deal with this issue.
  • My car won’t start, can you still take it?
  • No problem! The trucks are equipped with all the right equipment to get your car removed.
  • Does my vehicle need to be complete?
  • No but please inform our agents what is missing, small parts aren’t a problem but if the wheels are missing they need to be informed so they can take the right truck to collect your vehicle.
  • Can I claim back my unused car tax?
  • Yes, you can visit the DVLA website www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk and download a V14 document.
  • Do you remove car shells?
  • This can be arranged, just fill out our simple form and someone will get back to you.
  • Do you collect on weekends?
  • Weekends and out of hours can be arranged.
  • What areas of the UK do you cover?
  • All areas across the UK are covered!
  • Do you scrap larger vehicles?
  • Yes, we take vans and lorries aswell as cars.
  • Can I buy a car from you?
  • Unfortunately we do not sell cars or parts, but one of our agents might.
  • Do you issue a (COD) Certificate of destruction?
  • Yes, this is your receipt that confirms your vehicle will be scrapped in a lawful and environmentally sound manner. Your agent will send this to you within 7 days.
  • What should I expect when I call or email?
  • We take your booking and then send your details to our ATF in your area who will then call you as soon as possible to arrange a convenient time to collect your vehicle.
  • When are your phone lines open?
  • 8am til 8pm - Monday to Sunday.
  • How long before I receive a phone call and collect?
  • You will receive a call within a maximum of 3 hours from your request by our agent and depending on how busy we are we can pick up your vehicle within 24-48 hours.
  • Do I have to be present on collection?
  • No, we can make arrangements for you to leave the keys and documents somewhere. We appreciate that sometimes your vehicle may not be in the same location as you.
  • Are you licenced?
  • All our agents are licenced by the Environment Agency and are Authorised Treatment Facilities. You will be informed of their licence numbers on our site when you agree for them to collect.
  • Can I keep my number plate?
  • You must complete and send the DLVA a V778 Retention Document. Do not scrap or sell your vehicle until you have done this or you’ll lose your plate!
  • Can my scrap car be recycled by any business?
  • No, this can only be done by an Authorised Treatment Facility (AFT) which is Licenced by the Environment Agency. All of scrapmycar.com’s facilities are fully licenced.
  • Do I need to contact DVLA when I scrap my car?
  • No, you don't need to contact DVLA when you scrap your car as the scrapmycar.com scrap car recycling centre (ATF) does this for you using an electronic link to the DVLA's vehicle registration database.
  • Will I get any proof to say that I have scrapped my car legally?
  • Yes, When we collect your car will will issue with a receipt with all the details on it. As soon as the ATF depollutes your car and issues a Certificate of Destruction this will be sent to you.
  • How will I get my DVLA Certificate of Destruction?
  • Either by post or email.
  • Do I need to provide the registration document for my car?
  • If you have your V5C registration document (otherwise known as a log book), you should hand it over so that a Certificate of Destruction can be issued. Don't worry if you do not have the registration document as a Certificate of Destruction can usually be issued without it.
